Wayanad: In response to a fatal tiger attack in Sultan Bathery, the forest department has intensified its search for the man-eating tiger responsible for the attack. To enhance surveillance and tracking, 11 cameras have been installed in several areas.
In addition to the cameras, the search team is employing traditional tracking methods, closely examining the tiger’s footprints. The joint operation, led by the forest department and local police, aims to locate and capture the tiger.
Following the tragic incident involving the death of 36-year-old Prajeesh in the tiger attack, Chief Wildlife Warden issued an order yesterday. The order permits the use of tranquillizer darts to capture the tiger, with shooting authorized only if necessary and after confirming the tiger’s identity as the one responsible for Prajeesh’s death.
The victim, Prajeesh (36), a resident of Vakeri Koodallur, Moodakkolli, fell prey to a tiger attack. His lifeless body, partially consumed by the tiger, was discovered in a residential area. Reports indicate that Prajeesh had ventured into the paddy fields in the afternoon to collect grass for his cattle. Locals had reported tiger sightings in the area previously.
