KOLLAM: The Municipal Health Department has issued an order mandating the closure of meat shops in near to the upcoming ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign programs. This new order comes ahead of the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ scheduled to be held at the Kayamkulam assembly constituencyin Kollam district on December 16.
According to the circular, the government has imposed several restrictions on businesses and markets situated near the venue of the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign program. The circular specifically mandates the closure of all meat shops and hotels within a 50-meter radius of the event venue until its end. Additionally, the use of gas cooking has been banned in nearby hotels.
This move has sparked an outcry, with shop labourers expressing concerns about the impact on their livelihoods. They argue that a full-day closure of the shops will significantly affect their daily wages and view such stringent orders as detrimental.
