Governor forces police to remove banners against him from the Calicut University campus

Kozhikode: Police finally removed the banners put up by the SFI against Governor Arif Muhammad Khan in Calicut University campus. The Governor had asked the police to remove the banners around noon today. But when they did not comply, he personally came and made the police remove the banners.

The Governor asked that if Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had given such an instruction, would the policemen have disobeyed like this?

The Governor’s order to remove the banner was not taken at face value by the policemen. The police, who pretended not to hear the Governor’s order at first by yielding to the SFI, finally had no choice but to obey his command.

The Governor asked the policemen whether SFI was running the university. He asked them if they weren’t feeling ashamed of yielding to the SFI.

The footage of Governor reprimanding the policemen who did not remove the banner on his order, and making Superintendent of Police and other policemen to remove the banner, is making rounds in social media.

The Governor has also directed the Raj Bhavan Secretary to seek an explanation from the Vice Chancellor for giving permission to SFI to hang the banners inside the university campus.
