Thiruvananthapuram: Shashi Tharoor MP said that the Governor has the right to do certain things as the Chancellor of the university. He said the Governor has the right to exercise his authority until the law is changed. Shashi Tharoor also criticized the police for acting as an agent of any political party.

“As the Chancellor of the university, the Governor has the right to do certain things. If it is not to SFI’s liking then it is a matter between SFI and Governor. The Governor also has the right to use his authority until the law states otherwise. The job of the police is to look after everyone. But not to act as an agent of any political party,” said Shashi Tharoor.

Is displaying the black flag in protest against the Chief Minister contrary to the principles of democracy? The demonstrators refrained from throwing stones. Shashi Tharoor questioned the authority of the police to suppress non-violent protests, stressing that people have the right to express their dissatisfaction peacefully. Tharoor said that he has also experienced black flag protests against himself. Such protests according to him are within their rights to do.
