Kozhikode: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan visited the Mittayi theruvu (SM Street), suggesting that he does not want police protection. He walked down the streets, interacted with students, and posed for photographs. Later, he visited the shops on Mittayi Theruvu and talked to the traders. The merchants welcomed the Governor with cheers.
People gathered around the Governor to take photos with him when he walked down the streets. Merchants welcomed him to visit their shops and offered gifts such as halwa and hats. It literally turned into a procession as people walked the streets along with the Governor.
In response to SFI’s (Students’ Federation of India) challenge to stop him on the streets, the Governor went out among the people and suggested no police security. He told the media that those who want to stop him can stop him, and he is not afraid. ‘The Chief Minister does not allow the police force in Kerala to function independently. So I don’t need security.’ He told the media that an instruction in this regard has been written to the police chief.
