Ernakulam: BJP state president K Surendran has said that the CPI(M) is afraid of losing the administration of the universities in Kerala. Governor Arif Mohammed Khan stopped illegal appointments of wives of CPI(M) leaders in universities, party appointments and appointment of unqualified vice-chancellors. The CPI(M)’s loss of supremacy in the universities has now come as a displeasure towards the Governor. The state president was speaking to media persons in Aluva.
K Surendran asked whether it is possible to put banner like the ones against the Governor, against the Chief Minister. He said that BJP does not have the habit of giving a list for recommendation from Mararji Bhavan. The street war waged by the CPI(M), is to threaten the Governor. The Chief Minister and Ministers are personally abusing the Governor. Even during the UDF rule, CPI(M) dominated the universities.
In the past, Governors used to dispatch Chief Secretaries to universities. However, today, the Marxist party’s calculations have proven to be incorrect. The administration of the universities has slipped away from their hands. The decision by the CPI(M) to assign a minister to recommend individuals to the Senate was wrong. The Governor’s actions are granting autonomy to the universities in Kerala.
The SFI said that the Governor, who is the Chancellor of the state’s universities, will not be allowed to set foot in any of Kerala’s universities. The Chief Minister should question the stand of the SFI leader who said this. SFI is running a rogue operation against the Governor. If JNU can be brought to independence, fresh air of freedom will be brought to the universities of Kerala too, said K Surendran.
