Krishna Das condemns SFI’s ‘apolitical’ protests against Kerala Governor, calls out CPI(M)’s ‘nepotism’ in University postings

KOZHIKODE : PK Krishnadas, a member of the BJP National Executive Committee, strongly denounced the SFI’s actions against Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, deeming their protest approach unacceptable and non-political.

Krishna Das criticized the SFI’s protests as apolitical and demanded an end to their violent methods.

Krishna Das stated that Governor Arif Mohammad Khan did not engage in anything illegal to protest against the Governor. The Governor is fulfilling his duties in accordance with the Constitution. Krishna Das further added that neither the Governor nor any of his family members are involved in any criminal activities, such as gold/dollar smuggling, monthly payment issues, or backdoor recruitments. There are no benami companies associated with him. If the Governor had any connection with such criminal activities, then it would be acceptable for the SFI to protest against him.

He emphasized that the people of Kerala, including the BJP, support Arif Mohammed Khan’s continuation as Governor. He criticized the Communist party and SFI for encroaching upon universities in Kerala, alleging their dictatorial rule is undermining educational quality.

Krishna Das advocated for the maintenance of autonomy of universities for a fair academic system, a task he believes Governor Arif Mohammed Khan can achieve.

Earlier, hundreds of SFI activists attempted to block the Governor’s entry to the University. Despite the protest, the Governor attended programmes at the University of Calicut, Tenhipalam campus in Malappuram district, to a large audience, Krishna Das said.

Krishna Das highlighted the Governor’s visit to Mittayi Theruvu (SM Street) in Kozhikode, where a large group of people gathering welcomed him, taking photographs and walking in a procession alongside the Governor. He clarified that unlike Pinarayi Vijayan’s ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign, Governor’s visits did not compel or threaten attendance, stating that people gathered came voluntarily.

Krishna Das emphasized that according to the Constitution, the Governor of the state is conferred with the power to act at their own ‘discretion,’ the Constitutional fact that might not be unaware by the SFI activists.

Krishna Das urged SFI leaders to recognize that University senates shouldn’t solely comprise SFI members and highlighted Governor Arif Mohammed Khan’s nomination of academically outstanding individuals to the Senate.

He accused CPI(M) and SFI of employing Kerala’s universities for their ‘nepotism and favouritism’.
