Alappuzha: NREGA workers (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) were denied jobs after failing to participate in the Nava Kerala Sadas. In Thanneermukkom, Alappuzha, workers were instructed not to report for work by CPI ward member Sebastian from the 23rd ward of Thanneermukkom Panchayat.
Approximately 200 guaranteed workers have lost their jobs for not attending the Nava Kerala Sadas. These workers have expressed strong intentions to protest against those who have stripped them off their employment.
Since the commencement of the Nava Kerala Sadas, NREGA workers and Kudumbashree members have been receiving numerous threat messages. These messages were sent by ward member and the NREGA mates. Many such messages, which were sent across WhatsApp groups and other platforms have surfaced and has been circulated widely.
