Malappuram: 11 DYFI activists including DYFI Areekode Block President Sadil was arrested in the incident of attacking YouTuber Mohammad Nizar during the Nava Kerala Sadas event. They were arrested by Areekode police on charges of assault and detention. The incident related to the case took place on 30th of November. Mohammad Nizar, a native of Kuzhimanna, who came to give a memorandum to the Chief Minister against the increase in building permit fee, at the New Kerala Sadas, held at Areekode, was assaulted by DYFI activists.
Nizar had earlier done a video on YouTube criticizing the government. It is reported that the accused assaulted the YouTuber due to this. The accused had also seized Nizar’s mobile phone and microphone. Following Nizar’s complaint, the Areekode police registered a case against the DYFI leaders.
But the accused were arrested after 20 days of the incident. DYFI workers K Salman, NK Abdul Ghafoor, Ubaidullah Shakir, KV Sreejesh, TC Abdul Nasir, Naseer Palliali, S Jinesh, MK Muhammad Anees, Muhammad Ashraf and P Syed Abid are the other accused arrested. The accused who were produced in Manjeri court were remanded.
