Palakkad: The government has taken retaliatory action against retired NGO member Mohammad Ali for a Facebook post criticizing former Minister MM Mani during his tenure. Mohammad Ali, who served as the Senior Superintendent of the Palakkad Sub-district Education Department Office at the time, had posted a criticism against MM Mani and  P Sreeramakrishnan.

In the Facebook post, Ali targeted MM Mani, who was the Minister for Electricity at the time, and P Sreeramakrishnan, the Speaker. The post was on Mani’s laughter and Sreeramakrishnan’s spectacles. The situation escalated when a police complaint was filed against Mohammad Ali, who was also an NGO member, leading the matter to reach the courts. Ali confessed to the charges and paid a fine of Rs. 3000.

Although Mohammad Ali retired from service in 2021, a departmental investigation persisted. The government, citing a breach of the code of conduct, has now ordered a monthly deduction of Rs. 500 from Ali’s pension as part of retaliatory measures for his past criticism.
