Couple arrested for defrauding Rs 2 crores from job seekers with promise of foreign jobs

Ernakulam: A couple has been arrested for defrauding Rs 2 crores from job seekers by promising them jobs in foreign countries. Chinchu S Raj (45), a resident of East Kallada in Kollam, and Anish (45), a resident of Sringapuram in Kodungallur, were arrested by  the police. They operated a HR Consultancy on Ashoka Road at Kaloor, Kochi. The couple extorted around two crore rupees from numerous people by promising them jobs in various foreign countries such as Singapore, Australia, and the UK.

They extorted money from people by presenting job visas for foreign countries. The police had received complaints alleging that the couple was extorting money by offering job opportunities. Based on this information, when the police conducted an inspection at the couple’s house, they discovered bags containing money.

The police stated that the accused were preparing to leave the country with the extorted funds. Chinchu had previously worked in a recruitment firm in Delhi. The police informed that the accused had manipulated the fraud with the knowledge of this experience and seized documents, which include passports of the victims, from the accused.
