PATHANAMTHITTA: Ayyappa devotees severely criticised the Kerala government for its failure in managing crowds at the Sabarimala temple. Devotees expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of basic amenities arranged for devotees. They informed that they had been waiting in long queues for over 16 hours to reach Sannidhanam for darshanam, but even getting water was very difficult.
Police blocked devotee vehicles in various locations since yesterday, including Vaikom, Ponkunnam, Kottayam, and Pala without arranging basic facilities, leading to road-roko protests by the devotees.
It is reported that yesterday around 1 lakh devotees visited the Sabaraimala temple. However, the government failed in crowd management. Several devotees from other states complained that the government’s approach intensified the hardship for them.
The unexpected vehicle blockages, supposedly for the so called crowd management, caused distress among devotees, who requested water and other essentials from the police, but their needs weren’t addressed, further adding to their distress.
Devotees from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh complained that the Left government deliberately mistreated Ayyappa devotees from other states, aiming to discourage their future visits to the Sabarimala temple.
Additionally, devotees noted that several voluntary organizations operating at Sabarimala were subjected to regulations by the Left government, raising concerns about the government’s intentions. The devotees criticized the Kerala Devaswom Board by comparing the facilities with those provided at the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam in Andhra Pradesh.
