THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State BJP President K Surendran has nominated the popular film director and actor Major Ravi as the Vice President of BJP Kerala and C Raghunath, a former member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), to the BJP National Council.
Both Major Ravi and C Raghunath were granted BJP party membership by the National President, JP Nadda, in New Delhi.
Raghunath had contested against Pinarayi Vijayan in the Dharmadom constituency during the 2021 assembly elections.
On December 8, Raghunath resigned from the Congress, expressing his grievances on social media (Facebook), citing neglect by the Congress leadership within the party. He emphasized the significance of leadership within a party. Following this, the CPI(M) leaders approached C Raghunath to join the CPI(M) in early December.
Major Ravi, a former National Security Guard (NSG) Commando, was honored with the President’s Gallantry Award in 1991 and 1992 for combating terrorism in Punjab and Kashmir.
