Kozhikode: The police have added serious charges against actor Suresh Gopi in the case filed by a media worker regarding alleged indecent behavior. During the filing of the charge sheet, a new section was imposed on him. Section 119A of the Kerala Police Act has been imposed in addition to Sections 1 and 4 of IPC 354A.
Section 119A carries the potential penalty of imprisonment for up to 2 years and a fine. Under these sections, offences such as misbehaving with a woman in a public place and deliberate sexual assault were charged against him.
The complainant, an employee of MediaOne, had accused Suresh Gopi of misbehaving with her in public. This led to the inclusion of Section 119A in the charges. Nadakkavu SI Binu Mohan is the investigating officer for this case. The incident in question occurred on October 27 during an event held at Thali in Kozhikode. While the journos were asking questions he tried to enter a building but was blocked by the woman journalist. While answering her question Suresh Gopi touched her shoulders. The media person could be seen smiling while Suresh Gopi was answering questions. Later she filed a case against him alleging misbehavior.
However, the public saw every thing that transpired there as Suresh Gopi was speaking to the media in front of several cameras. Many took to social media in support of the actor saying that they did not see any inappropriate behavior from the part of Suresh Gopi.
