Thiruvananthapuram: CBI issues notice to Congress-owned Jaihind TV channel. The move is part of an investigation into the assets of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar.
Jaihind Managing Director BS Shiju has been asked to appear at the CBI office in Bengaluru. He is scheduled to appear before the investigating officers on January 11. He has been asked to submit details of investments made by Shivakumar in the channel. The CBI action is under Section 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The CBI has sought details of investments made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar, his wife Usha, son and other family members in Jaihind Channel. Details of dividends paid to them and share transactions have to be submitted as well.
The CBI action is part of the investigation against Shivakumar for amassing wealth beyond his income. DK Shivakumar is the Congress leader who was also involved in a huge controversy by throwing wads of currency notes at the gathered activists during the election campaign rally.
