THRISSUR: In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Thrissur on January 3, 2024, BJP volunteers placed flex boards and posters across various parts of Thrissur. However, the Thrissur Corporation authorities suddenly removed the flex boards and posters, citing traffic control reasons.

The peculiar action taken by the Thrissur Corporation authorities led the BJP volunteers to confront them. The BJP members questioned the Thrissur Corporation authorities for their inaction, pointing out instances where the CPI(M) had placed flex boards for Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign in Thrissur.

Dr. V Aathira, BJP Thrissur district Secretary, accused the Thrissur Corporation Mayor of instructing the removal of all BJP flex boards. She pointed out that only BJP’s flex boards were removed, while those flex boards of Pinarayi Vijayan’s campaign were left untouched. This selective removal was deemed unacceptable, leading to protests in front of the Thrissur Corporation office.

Dr. V Aathira emphasized that this action was specifically aimed at hindering BJP’s growth in the state, as the flex boards advertising the Chief Minister’s ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign programme remained unaffected.

Other BJP members also accused the Thrissur Corporation authorities of never showing concern regarding CPI(M)’s large flex boards. Upon hearing the news, BJP members from various parts of Kerala rushed to the Thrissur Corporation.

Following escalated protests, the Corporation authorities permitted the reinstallation of the flex boards.

It is scheduled for PM Modi to address a mass gathering of women at Thekkinkadu Maidanam in Thrissur on January 3. More than two lakh women from various fields will participate in the event titled ‘Sthree Shakti Modikkoppam’ (Women Power with Modi). The BJP Kerala unit plans to honor the Prime Minister for the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

The conference in Thrissur will also be attended by prominent women from various fields such as arts, sports, and culture, representing the women’s community in Kerala.
