THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, criticized Kerala’s State Tourism and PWD Minister, PA Muhammad Riyas, for justifying the diversion of Central government funds and presenting them as Kerala state government funds for political gain. Muraleedharan made these remarks after the inauguration of the ‘Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram today, while addressing the media.
Muraleedharan strongly condemned the misleading information being propagated by Kerala’s Chief Minister and State PWD Minister, Muhammad Riyas, who are claiming through flex-boards throughout the state that projects actually funded by the Central government are as funded by the state government. Muraleedharan accused the CPI(M) of politicizing development projects, alleging that they falsely claim that projects achieved by the state government were completed without Central funds.
Expressing his incredulity, Muraleedharan highlighted the irony of Muhammad Riyas advocating against politicizing project inaugurations while consistently falsely attributing ownership of projects.
He also reminded the public of the recent extravagant campaign ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ organized throughout Kerala, funded by taxpayers’ money, during which the Kerala state government disseminated false information about the Central government’s contributions to the projects.
Muraleedharan frankly stated that if Riyas genuinely believes that government programs should not be politicized, he should first implement this principle at the Cliff House (Chief Minister’s official residence).
