Kollam: A 10th-grade student named Muhammad Faisal, from Jama Ath Higher Secondary School Thandekkad, Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district, faced an accident while returning from the Kerala State School Arts Festival. Faisal, who secured an A Grade in the Vattappattu competition, faced the accident that led to the loss of his toe.

Following their success, Faisal and his companions boarded the Chennai Egmore-Guruvayur Express for their journey back. Due to a lack of available seats, Faisal was sitting near the train door with his friends. When the train reached Munroe Thuruth in Kollam, his foot became entrapped between the platform and the train, resulting in the bruising of his left toes.

Immediate primary treatment was given by a hospital in Kayamkulam. Subsequently, Faisal was transferred to Rajagiri Hospital in Aluva and later to Rajagiri Hospital in Kochi.  Due to the severity of the injury, the bruised big toe had to be amputated. Three little toes on his right foot sustained injuries as well.
