IDUKKI: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan inaugurated the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) meeting in Thodupuzha. Despite the LDF’s organized hartal against the Governor’s visit in Idukki, a large group of traders warmly welcomed his arrival.
In various parts of the district, SFI and DYFI members raised black flags against the Governor’s vehicle. Reports indicate that the state police did not take action against the protestors. The LDF called for a hartal from 6 am to 6 pm today to block the Governor’s entry into Idukki district.
Despite attempts by SFI and DYFI activists to march to the event venue, Arif Mohammad Khan arrived punctually and inaugurated the launching ‘Karunya Family Protection Scheme’ organising by KVVES as part of a welfare scheme aimed at supporting trader families.
Meanwhile, the BJP has pledged full support to traders willing to protest the hartal by keeping their shops open. The UDF has similarly announced measures against the LDF-organized hartal.
