THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala High Court issued a notice regarding a petition filed by the accused, Greeshma, seeking the quashing of the charge sheet and the transfer of the trial from Kerala to Tamil Nadu in the Parassala Sharon murder case.
A bench headed by Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas has sought an explanation from the Kerala state police chief.
According to reports, the plea mentioned that since the crime took place in Tamil Nadu, Greeshma had petitioned for the trial of the case to be transferred to Tamil Nadu. Greeshma also highlighted in the petition that the current investigation report does not ensure her a fair trial.
The co-accused, Sindhu, and her uncle, Nirmala Kumar, have approached the court with the same request. The court, based on the plea, has sought an explanation from the Kerala state police chief.
As per the police reports, the incident for the case took place on October 14, 2022 at Greeshma’s residence in Palukal, Tamil Nadu.
Greeshma allegedly mixed poison into kashayam (an Ayurvedic concoction) that she gave to Sharon. Subsequently, Sharon experienced physical discomfort and was admitted to hospital. Despite several days of treatment, Sharon succumbed to death on October 25, 2022.
The primary investigation conducted by the Parassala police had reported that it was a natural death. However, Greeshma’s involvement was found later during subsequent investigations.
Following this, Greeshama was arrested on October 31, 2022.
During the investigation, Greeshma admitted to the police that she had given poison because Sharon was not ready to withdraw from the relationship.
Later, Greeshma was released from jail on bail with conditions on September 26, 2023.
