THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP Kerala State President K Surendran accused the ruling CPI(M) government in Kerala of safeguarding the Popular Front terrorist Savad. Savad, who was the prime accused in the case of Prof. TJ Joseph’s hand-chopping incident, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) thirteen years after the crime that occurred on July 4, 2010, in Thodupuzha.
K Surendran was addressing the media about the arrest of terrorist Savad and PM Modi’s visit to Kerala.
He expressed shock upon hearing that the terrorist Savad was arrested from Kannur and had received support from locals for 13 years to hide from the investigation team.
He further questioned the capability of the state police. He then queried why such incidents frequently occur in Kannur. Surendran highlighted that Kannur is where most of the ISIS terrorists recruitment in Kerala has been reported. Upon analyzing these incidents, it’s evident that Kannur’s political situation is conducive to terrorists.
He added that the CPI(M) is creating a political situation where religious terrorists can grow and take root. Surendran then remarked that previously, terrorists chose Kashmir as a hideout, but now Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has created a situation in Kerala that is conducive to terrorists.
Surendran also questioned the Kerala state police department regarding the assistance provided by the small town Mattanur, Kannur district, to religious extremists. How can an extreme terrorist hide in a small town like Mattanur without any political support, Surendran asked.
Later, Surendran discussed PM Modi’s visit to Kerala. He mentioned that the PM will arrive on January 16 at Kochi airport and will attend the wedding of actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi’s daughter at Guruvayoor on January 17. Later, he will participate in programs, including a visit to the government’s shipyard in Kochi.
After this, he will also participate in a conference with around 6,000 party’s Shaktikendra in-charges of Kerala. The prime minister is making great efforts to do the needful for the development of Kerala. The Prime Minister was in Thrissur, Kerala on January 3 to participate in the Sthree Shakti Sangamam. His visit again to Kerala within two weeks is very significant. It is a promise to the people of Kerala that he is always there for taking care of the welfare and development of Kerala.
Surendran also mentioned that in the upcoming days, the Union Home Minister and other Union Ministers will visit Kerala to pave the way for developmental projects in Kerala.
