Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar stated that electric buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) are not profitable. Minister Ganesh Kumar emphasized that instead of spending Rs 1 crore to purchase an electric bus, the funds could be utilized to buy four small diesel buses. KB Ganesh Kumar expressed these views during a media interaction today in Thiruvananthapuram. He further indicated that he would no longer encourage the purchase of electric buses.

KB Ganesh Kumar highlighted his goal of reducing KSRTC expenses and boosting revenue. He also mentioned that the government has assured the timely payment of full salaries to KSRTC employees by the 5th of every month.

The Transport Minister announced the government’s decision to discontinue services on non-profitable routes and implement a revised plan for the economic improvement of KSRTC. Additionally, Ganesh Kumar unveiled plans for a new mobile application for KSRTC, named ‘Where is My Bus,’ which allows users to track the live location of buses.

He then said that fuel pump stations under KSRTC bus stations are currently profitable. Officials from the Department of Legal Metrology of the Kerala state will be authorized to conduct inspections at these fuel stations.
