Wayanad: The Nava Kerala Sadas, intended to address public grievances, witnessed unprecedented extravagance from the government and its ministers. Despite a growing pile of complaints, the event provided little resolution. In response to Right to Information (RTI) queries seeking details on the expenditure incurred during Nava Kerala Sadas, the government has evaded transparency, claiming a lack of clear statistics.

Kunju Muhammad, a Right to Information activist from Wayanad, reveals that the government has been unresponsive not only to inquiries about the expenses but also to other pertinent questions. When pressed for details on the amount spent from the public treasury, the government offered no concrete information. Even Kunju Muhammad’s inquiry to the chief secretary yielded a response indicating a lack of awareness.

Furthermore, when questioned about the number of cases filed against the SFI-DYFI attackers who violently targeted protestors during Nava Kerala Sadas, the government replied with uncertainty, stating that additional information was required from the DGP. This lack of transparency and accountability raises concerns as the government appears to be sidestepping inquiries that were submitted weeks ago.
