Pathanamthitta: A complaint has been lodged against NREGA workers who allegedly participated in DYFI’s human chain protest after marking their attendance at the work place. The complaint asserts that under the leadership of CPI(M) members, about 40 workers from three NREGA teams in Ward Number 20 of Pallickal Grama Panchayat joined the human chain protest.
In response to the complaint, officials visited the NREGA working sites to conduct an inspection. It was reported that after registering their attendance and commencing their work, CPI(M) members forcibly took the workers to participate in the human chain protest. Consequently, during the inspection, officials found the work sites empty.
Taking prompt action, officials contacted the NREGA Mate via phone to inquire about the matter and seek an explanation. The officials also conveyed that strict measures would be taken against those NREGA workers who attended the human chain protest after marking their attendance.
