Thiruvananthapuram: A case has been filed against four individuals, including CPI (M) Sreekariyam branch secretary Shahid Manguzhi and DYFI regional secretary Nidhin Vijayakumar, in connection with an incident where they attacked staff of a shop while under the influence of alcohol. The accused also assaulted a sub-inspector (SI), who intervened to stop the altercation. The Kazhakootam police have registered the case against Shahid Manguzhi, Nidhin Vijayakumar, Manu Krishnan, and Joshi.

The incident occurred on Sunday night when the accused, in an inebriated state, arrived at a local juice shop and assaulted employees, citing dissatisfaction with the delayed service. The accused also tried to attack the Kazhakootam SI, JS Mithun, who arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the disturbance and attempted to solve the problem.

Additional police personnel were dispatched to the location, leading to the arrest of the accused individuals. Reports suggest that during the arrest, the CPI (M) leaders further threatened the police officers, attempting to prevent the assault on SI JS Mithun. Both the shop employees and the sub-inspector have lodged complaints regarding the incident.
