Thiruvananthapuram: Reports of fraud and irregularities have emerged in the preparation of voters’ lists within Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The complaint alleges that names from a nearby ward have been added to the Vellar ward’s voter list.

The irregularities have been reported in the Vellar ward, where a by-election is imminent due to the demise of a BJP councillor. The process of updating the voter list ahead of the by-election has encountered irregularities, leading to protests by BJP councillors. A strike has been initiated at the Thiruvallam zonal office. Tensions escalated as BJP and CPI (M) workers clashed over the issue.

The final voter list for the state in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was released today. The list contains a total of 2,70,99,326 voters in the state, comprising 1,39,96,729 female voters and 1,31,02,288 male voters.  There are 5.75 lakh new voters.
