Kollam: Members of the Kollam Bar Association boycotted court proceedings today in the Kollam district. The Bar Association informed that this decision is a sign of protest to conduct a factual inquiry report in connection with the suicide of Aneeshya S, Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Munsiff Magistrate Court in Paravur, Kollam.
They also demanded that the inquiry report be submitted within two weeks. The Bar Association is calling for a detailed inquiry by the Director General of Prosecution into the death of Aneeshya. The association also demands the immediate suspension of officials who harassed Adv. Aneeshya.
According to reports, Aneeshya was found dead by hanging in the bathroom of her house on January 21st around 11:30 am. Aneeshya’s family stated that the deceased had been struggling with severe workplace stress. Having worked as an Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) for the past nine years, Aneeshya, according to her family, experienced increasing stress as she was singled out by her higher officials and colleagues.
An audio voice message from Aneeshya sent to her friends via WhatsApp reveals that she could not bear the mental torture from her superiors and colleagues. According to the recording, she was humiliated by her superiors through the public disclosure of confidential reports and ill-treatment. The voice message also indicates that she was unable to cope with the mental stress and contemplated taking her own life.
