Thiruvananthapuram: The revenue department has initiated legal proceedings against Mathew Kuzhalnadan, the Congress MLA representing Muvattupuzha, for encroachment of government land. A case has been filed under the Kerala Land Conservancy Act, and Kuzhalnadan has been issued a notice to appear for a hearing before the investigation team.
The case revolves around accusations of encroachment on 50 cents of government land near Kuzhalnadan’s Kapitan Resort in Suryanelli, Chinnakanal. Vigilance authorities reportedly discovered additional land in Kuzhalnadan’s name in Idukki Chinnakanaal. The Udumbanchola Land Revenue Tehsildar in Idukki has submitted a report to the District Collector, outlining the findings.
Vigilance investigations revealed that the MLA allegedly constructed a wall, encroaching on 50 cents of government land. Furthermore, it is found that Kuzhalnadan evaded taxes by concealing a 1,000-square-foot building that existed when the land was initially purchased. The resort owned by Mathew Kuzhalnadan is located on the land involved in the 2008 surplus land case.
