Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan has stirred controversy by insulting Ayyappa devotees. The minister alleged that those who removed their Tulsi mala and turned back to Pamba, citing the overwhelming crowd preventing them from reaching Sannidhanam for darshan, are fake devotees. Radhakrishnan claimed that genuine devotees would not resort to such actions and alleged that there is a deliberate campaign to undermine Sabarimala.

Minister Radhakrishnan refuted allegations of police brutality against devotees, dismissing videos circulating as false evidence. He expressed concern over a narrative gaining attention, including the tragic death of a girl from Tamil Nadu attributed to the overcrowding at Sabarimala. The Devaswom Minister, repeatedly labelling Ayyappa devotees as fake, claimed that they intentionally created disturbances, and praised the police for their precise intervention.
