Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city is on the brink of attaining metro city status, with the comprehensive project document now in its concluding phase. The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), entrusted with project implementation, has disclosed that 95 percent of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been finalized. A crucial meeting between officials from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and KMRL is scheduled for tomorrow to chart the course for the next steps.
The DPR for the first phase of the metro project has been completed, marking a significant milestone. Simultaneously, a feasibility study for the second phase is underway. Upon completion of this study, the project document will be submitted to KMRL, subsequently making its way to the government.
The DPR aims to explore possibilities of integrating the capital’s land, air, and water transport routes with the Metro system, envisioning comprehensive changes in social and economic landscapes over the next three decades.
