Kozhikode: The court acquitted the accused in the Vadakara taluk office arson case. The accused Narayana Satish, a native of Hyderabad, was acquitted by the Vadakara Assistant Sessions Court after the prosecution failed to prove his guilt. He is accused in two similar cases and the court acquitted Satish in all these cases.

The incident related to the case occurred on December 17, 2022. Narayana Satish is a mentally challenged person who had come to the taluk office at night to sleep. The police reported that the fire broke out in the building while burning garbage outside. At that time, the police had indicated the presence of scientific evidence against the accused.

There were no CCTV cameras or security personnel at the scene of the arson. The estimated loss in the fire was Rs 3 crore. Concurrently, local MLA KK Rama pointed out that the police might be framing charges against Satish due to his mental challenges. Subsequently, a judicial inquiry was also conducted in the case.
