Pamba river conservation office starts operations following the guidelines of Ministry of Jal Shakti

Aranmula: Following the guidelines of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the office to organize and oversee activities for the rejuvenation of the Pamba River has started its operations in Edanad, Aranmula, under the auspices of the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) and the Wildlife Institute of India.

This office is set up on the banks of Adi Pamba. The office was inaugurated by G Ashok Kumar IAS, Special Secretary and Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga, and social activist Rajendra Singh, also known as ‘waterman of India’, who won the Magsaysay Award in 2001 and the Stockholm Water Prize in 2015.

Following this, a meeting was organised on the banks of Adi Pamba River where Dr. Ruchi Badola (Scientist F) of Wildlife Institute of India, SA. Hussain (Retd. Scientist F), Dr. Tanveer Ahmed (Project Coordinator) and other officials including Dr. V Dinesh, Subeesh S, Jagmohan Gupta, Vinod Tarai, Krishna Venugopal, Mebin A J and Babu Mani (Plant Taxonomist) participated.

The findings of the study conducted on the Pamba River under the joint auspices of the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) and the Wildlife Institute of India as part of Pamba River Rejuvenation was presented in the meeting by Dr. V Dinesh and Babu Mani (Plant Taxonomist).
