Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar has expanded his personal staff list to include a total of 20 members, despite earlier assurances to reduce the number due to financial constraints. The Department of Public Administration has issued an order approving the increase in personal staff members.
Before taking the oath, Ganesh Kumar had publicly stated his intention to minimise the number of personal staff members in light of the prevailing financial crisis. According to regulations, a minister is allowed a maximum of 25 personal staff members. The orders to include the personal secretary and driver were issued initially, and subsequently, the Public Administration Department expanded this order to include all the staff members.
Ganesh Kumar assumed the role of Transport Minister on December 29. He then faced criticism for his stance against e-buses of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). However, this decision did not get support from even the Left Front.
