Kozhikode: BJP State President K Surendran criticized the incident of driving a car into the convoy of Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai. Surendran condemned the incident, suggesting it was treated leniently with a mere fine due to the accused’s high-level connections with the CPI (M). He was talking to media persons regarding the incident.

“The Governor is being terribly isolated. Is a thousand rupees fine enough for this incident? Who gave the police the authority to file a case with a fine? It really is the rule of law. There is no security in Kerala for those holding constitutional positions. Police provide security only for CM Pinarayi and his entourage. The law and order situation in Kerala is deteriorating,” K Surendran stated.

The incident occurred at 7:50 pm on Sunday along Mavoor Road near the Mofussil Bus Stand as Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai was returning to his residence. The son of a CPI(M) leader drove his car into the Goa Governor’s motorcade. The police arrived at the scene, detained the youth and the car, but he was released with a mere fine of Rs 1000 upon discovering that he was the son of a senior CPI(M) leader in the district.
