Malappuram: The District Consumer Forum has directed the automobile company to pay the cost of the car to the consumer due to the non-functioning of airbag at the time of an accident. The decision to compensate the money was ruled by the District Consumer Forum upon reviewing the complaint lodged by a resident of Indianoor in the Malappuram district.
The complainant suffered severe injuries in a car accident in 2021. The complainant claimed that the airbag’s failure to deploy was the reason for the serious injury. According to a report given by the motor vehicle inspector, the car’s airbag was inoperative at the time of the accident. After taking this into consideration, the District Consumer Forum decided that the automobile company should compensate the complainant with Rs 4,35,854 and pay a court fee of Rs 20,000.
