Nilambur MLA PV Anvar’s children’s park graned licence amidst High Court case

Kozhikode: CPI (M) leader and Nilambur MLA PV Anvar has been granted a licence to operate a children’s park in Kakkadampoyil. It is noteworthy that this licence was granted despite an ongoing legal challenge questioning the permission for the park, which was being considered by the High Court today.

The licence was issued by the Koodaranhi Grama Panchayat following the payment of a licence fee amounting to Rs 7 lakh. Additionally, outstanding revenue recovery dues totaling Rs 2.5 lakh were settled with the village office in order to obtain the licence.

Yesterday, the panchayat informed the court that the park, owned by MLA PV Anvar, had been operating without a valid licence. Consequently, the High Court directed the government to provide an explanation as to how the park was operating without a licence.

The Panchayat clarified to the court that Anvar had indeed applied for a license, but it was not issued due to an error in the application. This revelation came to light through an Right to Information (RTI) document submitted by the petitioner, affirming the absence of a valid license for the park’s operation.

In response to the RTI document, the High Court sought clarification from the Koodaranji Panchayat about the park’s operation without the necessary licence. Despite the closure ordered by the collector due to the absence of a licence, the park continues to function with government support.
