Thiruvananthapuram: The police were unable to apprehend an individual attempting to cheat in the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) exam held in Poojapura. The suspect, a youth, managed to evade capture and has remained in hiding since the incident occurred two days ago. The youth managed to flee the exam hall upon realising his imminent capture.

The impersonation attempt occurred during the University Last Grade Servant (LGS) exam conducted by the KPSC. The youth, realizing the imminent risk of being caught, ran out of the exam hall. Authorities have intensified their investigation, primarily relying on CCTV footage capturing the impersonator’s escape.

Police analysis suggests that another person came to write the exam for Amaljith, a Nemom resident. According to the information obtained from CCTV, it may be Amaljith who was waiting outside for the impersonator on a bike outside the school compound. Further footage depicts the duo travelling on the motorcycle through Thirumala. Additionally, the police have requested CCTV footage from military authorities at the Pangode Military Camp.

The cheating attempt occurred during the first exam to implement a biometric identification system in KPSC written exams, a measure introduced to enhance exam integrity. Until now, identity verification was done by only looking at the identification document. Amaljith’s passing of the preliminary examination now faces scrutiny following the impersonation attempt during the main examination. Those who have scored 55.44 marks in the preliminary examination will be eligible for the main examination. The incident occurred yesterday morning at 11:30 am at the Chinnamma Memorial Girls Higher Secondary School in Poojapura.
