Kollam: The Kollam District Rural Crime Branch filed a chargesheet today in the Oyoor child kidnapping case. The chargesheet was submitted to the Kottarakkara court.
The investigation team, led by District Crime Branch DySP MM Jose, filed the chargesheet 72 days after the child’s abduction. It includes several crucial pieces of evidence, such as CCTV footage and call records.
KR Padmakumar, Anita Kumari, and Anupama, natives of Chathannoor, Kollam district, are the only accused in the case. According to the chargesheet, they kidnapped a 6-year-old child for ransom of amount Rs 10 lakh. The investigation team also stated that the accused planned to abduct other children.
On December 1, 2023, the police arrested all three of them from Thenkasi. They have been charged with sections punishable by life imprisonment, as stated in the chargesheet. The chargesheet lists the charges of abduction of the child, wrongful imprisonment, conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.
A 13-member team, led by Crime Branch DySP MM Jose, investigated the case.
