Wayanad: The Minister of Forest and Wildlife in Kerala, AK Saseendran, has broken his silence regarding the tragic death of a local resident in Mananthavady due to a wild elephant attack. Speaking openly, he acknowledged that despite the Forest Department’s efforts to address the issue through legal means, the people are not receiving the benefits as expected. Saseendran emphasized that effective resolution of such conflicts requires cooperation from both authorities and the public.

Expressing the government’s serious concern, Saseendran cautioned against and protests, warning that such actions could exacerbate the problem. He urged everyone to collaborate with officials, acknowledging that ordinary measures alone cannot address the concerns of Wayanad residents. Additionally, steps are being taken to safely relocate the elephant back to its natural habitat.

Meanwhile, discontent among locals in Mananthavady has grown, with questions raised about the delay in preventive measures and the perceived lack of effective solutions from the authorities. Protestors demand the personal assurance of the District Collector before considering withdrawal of protest, and they halted the Superintendent of Police’s progress towards Manathavady Medical College, where the victim, Ajeesh Kumar’s body is kept.
