Wayanad: Joseph, the father of Ajeesh, who lost his life in an elephant attack in Mananthavady on Saturday, has placed the blame on Minister AK Saseendran and the entire forest department for the untimely demise of his son. He demanded the resignation of Minister Saseendran over the incident, highlighting that the minister came to power because of the votes given by humans and not elephants.
Expressing his anguish, the father lamented the loss of his son and the subsequent hardships faced by his family. With his wife bedridden and his son’s children studying in classes 8 and 4, Joseph questioned how they would move forward without Ajeesh. He criticised the government’s failure to issue any warnings regarding the presence of the elephant.
Joseph further raised concerns about the wildlife menace affecting cultivation activities and accused the forest department of neglecting their duties. He alleged that despite his son’s tragic death occurring in broad daylight, no forest official had taken steps to investigate the incident.
Yesterday, around 4 am, a wild elephant entered the residential area of Padamala, trampling Ajeesh Kumar (46), to death. According to statements from the forest department, the elephant is a tuskless male previously captured by the Karnataka forest department and released into the forest with a radio collar attached for monitoring purposes.
