Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister V Muraleedharan severely criticized Kerala Chief Minister’s daughter, Veena Vijayan. Muraleedharan questioned why Veena Vijayan and Pinarayi Vijayan are afraid of investigation and filed a plea in court to halt the investigation into the monthly payment scam case if they have not engaged in any illegal activities. Muraleedharan added that if the money received by Exalogic Solutions is treated as part of a contract between companies, Exalogic Solutions and CMRL, then both parties should respond. This is why the SFIO summoned Veena Vijayan as the owner of Exalogic Solutions.
Muraleedharan also questioned if Veena Vijayan is part of any political party, as he observed that the LDF is primarily defending her in the monthly payment scam case. He mentioned that CPI(M) leaders are not taking the same approach in Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter’s case as they did earlier in the case against Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s son.
Muraleedharan emphasized that the BJP’s only stand is to bring the culprits to court, with no compromise on that stance. He highlighted that’s why M Sivasankar, former principal secretary of Pinarayi Vijayan, is still in jail and Veena Vijayan was summoned to produce documents to the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
He then pointed out that Karnataka’s Congress government has not yet announced any enquiry against Veena Vijayan or her company, which is in Bengaluru. He questioned why senior Congress leader and Kerala state leader of Opposition VD Satheesan has not made such a demand to Karnataka Congress. The Union Minister also suggested that because Rahul Gandhi and Sitaram Yechury are having a secret alliance, VD Satheesan did not demand a CBI investigation from the Karnataka Congress government. He pointed out VD Satheesan’s dual stance.
On February 8, Veena Vijayan’s company filed a plea to halt the investigation after SFIO summoned her to produce documents related to financial transactions between her company, Exalogic Solutions, and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL). However, on February 7, the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) filed a petition in the Kerala High Court seeking a stay on the SFIO investigation. The Kerala High Court declined to stay the SFIO’s investigation and questioned why the investigation should be halted if nothing illegal has been committed.
