Ernakulam: The High Court is set to hear the plea of former Kerala finance minister Thomas Isaac regarding the KIIFB masala bonds case today. This hearing comes in light of the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), requiring Isaac’s appearance for questioning. Yesterday, the court granted Isaac the authority to decide whether he would attend the interrogation or not.
In response to Isaac’s petition, the ED has filed a reply affidavit asserting that Isaac has not been cooperative with the investigation and has failed to furnish the requested documents. Justice Devan Ramachandran will consider the ED’s affidavit in response to Isaac’s petition. The ED has argued that instead of cooperating with the investigation, Isaac has resorted to making baseless accusations.
Isaac’s legal representative, Jaideep Gupta, stated that Isaac has been directed to appear on Tuesday, to which the court clarified that the decision to attend the interrogation rests with Isaac. Also, the court will review a petition from KIIFB challenging the ED’s summons. It is scheduled for consideration on the 16th of this month.
