Ernakulam: BJP leader Shone George criticized Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for favouritism. Shone George accused Pinarayi Vijayan of appointing a former Income Tax officer to his Personal Staff, who had cleared Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin case.
Shone George presented documents showing that Pinarayi Vijayan appointed the former officer, R Mohan, to his Personal Staff as a ‘reward’ for giving a clean chit to Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin case in 2008.
Speaking at a press conference in Ernakulam, Shone George claimed that R Mohan was now serving as a special officer in CM’s personal staff. He announced that he would file a complaint regarding this matter with the Income Tax (IT) department and the Union Finance Ministry.
Shone George also presented the list of members of the Chief Minister’s personal staff. He even presented to the media the clean chit document received by the Chief Minister where Mohan’s name is listed.
Shone George said that R Mohan, was the officer who had investigated the case against Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin case, where Pinarayi Vijayan received a commission from the Canadian power company, SNC Lavalin and invested it in an entity called Kamala International in Singapore. Shone George found Mohan’s involvement when analyzing about Kamala International in Singapore. He presented documents indicating that Mohan was appointed as a special officer in Pinarayi Vijayan’s Personal Staff section in 2016.
It is also worth noting that R Mohan, the retired Additional Director-level officer of the Income Tax Department, is the brother of a former Chief Secretary.
