Wayanad: Locals in Wayanad expressed disappointment as they alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the constituency was merely a farce. Despite escalating protests over wildlife attacks in the area, the Wayanad MP decided to pay a visit only yesterday. Rahul arrived in Wayanad on Sunday morning and briefly visited the homes of Ajeesh and Paul, who fell victim to recent wild elephant attacks.
However, residents were dismayed as Rahul failed to address their grievances during his visit. “As the elected MP, he should engage with us,” locals expressed. They demanded an opportunity to voice their concerns directly to him, emphasizing the responsibility MPs hold towards their constituents.
Residents said Rahul’s visit would have been meaningless if they hadn’t stopped him to communicate their issues. They accused the MP of disregarding the value of their lives. They highlighted the incomplete fencing in the area emphasizing the negligence of the authorities. Despite the incident, authorities have failed to locate the elephant responsible for the attacks. In the past three months, there have been three deaths from wildlife attacks. It’s nearly three months since Rahul Gandhi visited his own constituency, Wayanad.
