Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Film Producers’ Association has affirmed that all Malayalam films, including ‘Manjummel Boys’, will be screened in theatres despite protests from theatre owners. This announcement was made by the Producers’ Association in an official statement. ‘Manjummel Boys’, distributed by Dream Big Films for Sri Gokulam Movies, is scheduled to release in theatres on February 22nd.

In the press release, the Producers’ Association noted that they became aware of FEOUK’s decision to stop screening all Malayalam films from February 22nd through the media reports. They stated that all Malayalam films, including ‘Manjummel Boys,’  which are set to release on February 22nd will be screened on the same day.

The producers’ association stated that they would continue to collaborate with those theatres which have consistently maintained good relations with the producers’. They emphasized that they have already signed agreements for screening the films in theaters. Additionally, the producers’ association’s decision is not to cooperate with theaters that do not screen their films, they added in the press release.

This decision comes after the theatre organisation, Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEOUK), in Kerala decided to stop the screening of Malayalam films starting from February 22nd onwards.

The theatre owners organisation, FEOUK, has voiced their concerns regarding alleged violations of industry rules by film producers’. Specifically, concerns have been raised about the early  release of films’ in Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms after their theatrical debut. According to existing contracts, movies are allowed to be released in OTT platforms only after 40 days of their theatrical release. Theatre owners accuse producers’ of breaching this rule, causing financial losses to theatre owners.
