Wayanad: In response to protests over wildlife attacks in Wayanad, Forest Minister AK Saseendran has dismissed the severity of the issue, labeling protests as a natural occurrence. He asserted that there is no necessity for him to personally visit Wayanad to address the problem.
Saseendran defended his stance, emphasizing the importance of engaging with responsible authorities rather than reacting to public protests, which he warned could exacerbate the situation. The minister expressed concerns about protests escalating into violence and accused certain WhatsApp groups of aggravating tensions. Minister Saseendran emphasized the need to address grievances in a calm atmosphere to avoid further complications.
The minister stated that it was the government’s responsibility to understand people’s reactions and take effective actions. He mentioned that to address this concern, the Chief Minister had called a meeting of the people’s representatives. Some proposals had been put forward, and a three-member ministerial committee had been formed to discuss these proposals with Wayanad’s representatives. He further explained that this committee would be visiting Wayanad on the 20th of that month. Until then, the Forest Minister believed there was no need for him to visit Wayanad or make any special statements.
