Thiruvananthapuram: In a recent development in the case of the missing two-year-old girl in Pettah, Thiruvananthapuram, City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraj has stated that the abduction cannot be confirmed at this time. He mentioned that CCTV footage needs to be checked to confirm the nomadic parents’ claim that the two-year-old girl was abducted by two individuals arriving on a scooter. It will take some time to check all the CCTV footage from the surrounding area. The Commissioner emphasized that the first priority for the police is to find the missing child.

Commissioner also highlighted that there are no definite indications on the abduction. He said that there are contradictions in the statements provided by the parents and family members. According to the child’s father’s statement, the child was with them until 11:30 pm. However, when he woke up around 1 am, the child was missing. The child’s elder brother’s statements were also ambiguous. Initially, the boy claimed that two individuals on a scooter showed her a chocolate and took her away. But later he changed his statement, asserting that he did not witness the abduction directly. He added that he was merely repeating what his younger brother had said.

Meanwhile, the younger brother stated that he came to know about the child’s missing only when their mother began crying. He also mentioned that he did not witness any vehicle. The Commissioner further stated that individuals living with the child’s family are being interrogated for more details.

According to police reports, a two-year-old girl named Mary, the daughter of nomadic couple – Amardeep and Rabina Devi from Bihar, went missing from Pettah, Thiruvananthapuram today morning. It is also informed that the girl was wearing a black spotted T-shirt at the time of her abduction.

Police have requested that anyone with information about the missing child, inform the police control room at 0471 2743 195, 94979 47107, 94979 60113, 94979 80015, 94979 96988, or 112.
