Kannur: There has been a remarkable surge in the demand for rice labeled under the Central Government’s Bharat brand in Kerala. At Anchampeedika in Kalliassery Panchayat, Kannur, approximately 100 quintals of rice were sold within one and a half hours. The 10 kg pack is in high demand, with approximately 1,000 people purchasing rice within a short span.
Alappuzha also experienced a similar rush for ‘Bharat Rice’ recently. To manage the crowd effectively, rice distribution was organized on a token system. Additionally, a sample of the rice was made available for testing purposes, highlighting efforts to maintain quality standards. Despite the Kerala government’s criticism of ‘Bharat Rice’, people continue to flock to buy it. This indicates its popularity among consumers.
