Thiruvananthapuram: In light of the upcoming Attukal Pongala festival, scheduled prayers at Palayam Christ Church on Sunday have been rescheduled. The customary ‘aduppu vettu’ ritual, involving the lighting of the pandara aduppu (main hearth), is slated for 10:30 am on February 25th, the day of the pongala. Following this, the pongala nivedyam ceremony is set for 2:30 pm. Reverend P K Chacko, the Vicar, announced the rescheduling of regular church prayers for the pongala day, indicating that arrangements will be made for devotees conducting the ritual on the street in front of the church.

Normally, Palayam Christ Church holds prayers in various languages in the morning, which have now been canceled. Instead, a collective prayer will take place at 5:30 pm. This adjustment stems from the fact that the Attukal Pongala coincides with a Sunday. The temple trust has assured that preparations for the Pongala ceremony are complete.
