Kozhikode: Leaders from the Left Democratic Front (LDF) have come under fire for spreading false allegations linking the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to the murder of a CPI(M) leader in Koyilandy. Following the arrest and confession of a CPI(M) member in connection with the case, LDF leaders who had initially pointed fingers at the RSS hastily deleted and corrected their social media posts amid mounting criticism.

Former MLA Swaraj, MLA Vijin, and former MLA PK Sasi were among those who attempted to attribute blame for the murder to the RSS, sharing Facebook posts making such claims. Vijin MLA’s post in particular, alleging that comrade PV Sathyanath was killed by RSS criminals at a temple premises and urging comrades to protest against RSS’ communal ideology. However, Vijin later corrected the post after it sparked controversy.

PK Sasi echoed similar sentiments in sharing Vijin’s post, while Swaraj went as far as to label Sathyanathan as the “last victim of RSS terrorism.” However, facing strong criticism, Swaraj deleted the post and shared a revised statement.

As it emerged that the murder resulted from internal dispute, arguments, and personal enmity among CPI(M) workers, LDF leaders faced severe criticism for their baseless allegations against the RSS.

Meanwhile, the inquest proceedings into Sathyanathan’s murder have been completed, with reports revealing six deep wounds on his body. The incident occurred near Cheriyapuram Temple in Peruvattoor. Sathyanathan, who was murdered, served as the secretary of Koyilandy Town Central Local Committee. Abhilash, a former CPI(M) Branch Committee member, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
